David W Bolyard Jr.

David W. Bolyard Jr. is president of Mountain Funeral Group, a family of nine funeral homes in Preston, Taylor, and Harrison Counties in West Virginia, and founder of 4LocalObits.com, an obituary publication service that will revolutionize how the world advertises and finds death notices. He began working in the funeral industry upon graduation from Preston High School in 1993 and while he attended Fairmont State University and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, from where he graduated in 1998. Some of the funeral homes where he got his start – Taylor, Davis, and Bartlett – are now part of his company. On a short hiatus from the funeral business, he worked in the financial industry to gain the knowledge to become a successful business owner. When his grandmother took ill and died, Bolyard felt called to return to his profession. He purchased a fire department and remodeled two buildings of more than 5,000 square feet and opened the Bolyard Funeral Home in 2007. He bought the Rotruck-Lobb Funeral Home Taylor Chapel in Newburg in 2008 and renovated it into his company’s main billing office and a medical clinic. He purchased Davis Funeral Home in Clarksburg and Bartlett Funeral Home in Grafton with a business partner in 2009. The pair added Greathouse Funeral Home in Salem and Dorsey Funeral Home in Shinnston in 2011. They built a human crematory in 2012 and later added a pet funeral home and crematory. In 2014 they opened Affordable Funeral and Cremation Center in Nutter Fort. David is very active in his community, being past president of the Preston Memorial Hospital Foundation and still serves on its board. He is president of the Preston County Commission Building Committee. David owns and operates a 30-bed assisted living facility in Grafton, WV, and residential and commercial rental properties in three counties in West Virginia.


Morgan Mayfield

Morgan Mayfield is a third generation funeral home proprietor. He is the operator of Morgan Funeral Home of Reedsville, WV and a partner of Mountain Funeral Group. He graduated from Valley High School in Masontown, WV in 1972. He attended West Virginia University and received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1977. He graduated with honors from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1979. After finishing his education, Morgan Mayfield took over the family business and had the new facility built in 2000 at its present location. He began his career working for his family owned Morgan Funeral Home but also worked for Taylor Funeral Home in Newburg, WV. When Mr. Richard Taylor fell ill prior to his retirement, Morgan assisted him by taking care of all the day to day business needs for approximately four years. Morgan resides in Reedsville, WV. He also has done contract work for Mancinelli Funeral Home in Morgantown, WV; Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood, WV; and Hastings Funeral Home in Morgantown, WV. He has been a parade marshal for the Preston County Buckwheat Frestival for over 25 years. He continues to serve the people of Preston and surrounding counties with the same dedicated service taught to him by his grandfather, mother, and father. He is an avid sportsman having been an Elk Hunting guide in Wyoming and Idaho. He is a life member of the NRA, an amateur photographer, and enjoys waterskiing. His philosophy is, “Try to put yourself in that first row, where a family is sitting during a funeral service, so that you might always remember how they are feeling during this difficult time and so that you are able to serve them in a way that will help ease the pain of losing a loved one."

Louie G. Male was born in Clarksburg, WV and is a native of Lumberport, WV. Upon graduating from Lumberport High School in 1973, he attended Fairmont State College. Louie served his apprenticeship at Dorsey Funeral Home in Shinnston, WV, and graduated from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1977. Upon graduation, he worked for various funeral homes in the area, and was employed by Davis Funeral Home and Bartlett Funeral Home from 1996 through 2006. Louie has been dedicated to serving families for over 37 years. He is a member of local 39 Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons in Morgantown, WV, and a member of Enterprise United Methodist Church. He currently resides in Westover with his wife, Julie


Timothy Schoonover

Timothy Schoonover was born and raised in Philippi and is the son of Gary and Kathy Schoonover. He married the love of his life, Kelly Dawn Poling and together they are parents of a daughter, Emily and twin boys, Caleb and Logan. Tim is a 2003 graduate of Philip Barbour High School and May 2007 graduate of West Virginia University, where he was a four year member and rank leader in the "Pride of West Virginia" the Mountaineer Marching Band. In September 2009, Tim graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science where he served as president of his class. While attending mortuary school, he worked for the Winter Funeral Home PC, where he had the opportunity to clinically work with Robert Mayer, the author of Embalming: History, Theory, and Practice.

Tim is currently a Licensed Embalmer and Funeral Director in the State of West Virginia and is registered with the National Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards. He brings years of experience and has served the area for many years as a funeral director and embalmer at Stemple and Forman Funeral Home in Philippi and the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington.  He is a member of On Target Church in Thornton. He is a former member of the Barbour County Deputy Reserves where he had served as assistant chief. He currently holds a seat in the Barbour County Civil Service Commission.  He enjoys his Mountaineer and Pittsburgh sports teams, camping with his family, fishing and NASCAR. He resides in Moatsville with his wife and kids. Tim has been with Mountain Funeral Group since 2017. 


Nancy C Bartlett

Funeral Associate/Director of Public Relations

Nancy C. Bartlett is a funeral assistant with Mountain Funeral Group. She has been employed at Bartlett Funeral Home since 2003. She is a Taylor County native, having been born and raised in the Webster community. Nancy graduated from Sand Fork High School in Glenville, WV in 1967. She began working at Wilson Florist in 1968, and bought the shop in 1976. She owned and operated Nancy Bartlett flowers for 26 years and retired in 2002. When not serving “her families” at the funeral home, she is an avid Grafton High School Bearcats fan as well as a WVU football fan. She is a member of the Webster Baptist Church and trustee of the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Nancy cherishes the friendships she has made with the families we serve and is the most friendly door attendant we have at Bartlett Funeral Home. She is unmatched in her ability to put people at ease, and families find a comforting soul and a unique character in Nancy.


Carol Peters

Director of 4LocalObits/Funeral Assistant

Carol Peters is a native of Taylor County and a graduate of Grafton High School. She is married to Dennis Peters, has two children, Dennis Peters Jr and Andrea Setler, and has three granddaughters.

Carol went to work at Grafton Apparel Shirt Factory in 1972 immediately after graduating and worked there for eleven years. She then took a data entry position at Wright Airlines in Bridgeport until the office moved to Cleveland Ohio.  Carol then joined the ranks of the Mountain Statesman Newspaper for eight years. During her employment at the Mountain Statesman she held the positions of a dispatcher, advertising sales person and circulation manager.

In 1992 Carol, along with business partners, purchased The Preston County Journal, The Preston County News and The Pennysaver- which created Preston Publications Inc. The corporation was sold to Clarksburg Publishing Company in 2014 where she continued to work as the General Manger of the publications until June 20, 2018 when she retired.

Carol began her new journey as an executive for 4Localobits.com in November 2018. She introduces 4LocalObits.com and promotes the unique manner that ensures the broadest, timely distribution of every death notice by contacting funeral directors throughout the state of WV and acquainting them to the benefit s of submitting their obituaries to 4Localobits.com. Carol shares with the funeral directors the value as a user of 4Localobits.com. She also proofs the slides for the TV stations, reviews submissions to 4Localobits.com and makes contacts to ensure the submitted content is correct on 4Localobits.com.

Carol works out of Bartlett Funeral Home and will also assist at the other sites when needed.


Tyler Spicer

Tyler Spicer was born and raised in Summers County, West Virginia. Both of his grandfathers were funeral directors, so he got a taste of the funeral industry at a young age.  As he grew older, he became very active in 4-H, obtaining the rank of All Star, spending most of his summers in camps in Summers County and Jackson’s Mill. He also attended HOBY, where he met multiple people and some of his best friends. Upon graduation in 2012 from Summers County High School, he was offered a job at a local family owned funeral home. He took a sometime away funeral business and started managing, and then eventually buying rental property.       

Tyler still enjoys spending time in Summers County, where all of his family still remains. He also enjoys exploring new places in West Virginia with the love of his life, Taylor Marsh, and their dogs, Riley and Shadow. He loves fishing, kayaking, and hiking in his free time. He loves the Red Sox and watches every game he gets the chance. Tyler attends and has found his church home at Centerbranch Church in Bridgeport.

Tyler currently serves at Davis Funeral Home and has taken on multiple positions within our nine locally owned funeral homes. He obtained his Crematory Operator’s License and assists in managing day to day operations at all locations. Tyler is currently furthering his education to continue to work in the funeral industry for years to come.

Jason Miller

Jason Miller is a veteran of the United States Navy, serving two tours of duty throughout 2004-2008 in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Jason was born in Pensacola, Florida to Dodi and Steve Miller. After moving to West Virginia, he went on to graduate in 2002 from The Mountaineer Challenge Academy. Jason eventually settled in Clarksburg, WV, where he resides with his family. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and daughter, glass blowing, fast cars, comedy, and is an avid patron of the arts and music, and is a proud member of the Clarksburg VFW. Jason has been a part of Mountain Funeral Group since 2019.

Quinlan “Quin” O’Shea Meador was born in Beckley, WV to parents Eric Meador and Kelly Hamon.  Quin attended Braxton County High School and is an honors graduate. Quin wrestled for Braxton County High School, where he was a two time All American. Quin is currently attending Fairmont State University, where he majors in Business and Accounting. Quin began in the funeral business several years ago, gaining experience in multiple aspects of the industry. Quin began working at Mountain Funeral Group in 2020 and services all of our locally owned funeral homes. Quin’s goal is to attend Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science to become a West Virginia Certified Funeral Director in order to continue helping families and their loved ones throughout the State of West Virginia. 


Jimmy Mazzie

A previous funeral home employee since fall of 2009. He grew up in the Northview section of Clarksburg, WV. A 1976 graduate of Liberty High School, where he was feature twirler. He, also, attended Fairmont State College and majored in music education. Retired from Verizon after 30 years of service and last 9 years as a system technician and, also, CWA Local 2011 Union President (from 2002-2008). He is the son of the late Russell J. Mazzie, Sr. and Mary L. (Roveto) Mazzie of Clarksburg, WV. He attends St. James Catholic Church in Northview and has been Liturgical musician (Organist) for over 42 years. He is a member of the Knight of Columbus #872 of Clarksburg and Clarksburg Columbian Club.


Tracy D. West

Tracy D. West was born and raised in Kingmont, WV, the daughter of the late Denward “Denny” Satterfield and Donna J. Musgrove and stepfather, Gerald “Jerry” Muscgove. Tracy is a proud mother to one son, Ryan Heiskell and three step children. Tracy married her husband Robert, “Roddie” West, Jr in 2018 and they reside in Kingmont in Marion County. Tracy Graduated from East Fairmont High School, class of 1986. She attended Webster College and graduated on the Dean’s List with a Medical Assistant Degree.

As a child Tracy cared for her late sister, Kathy Ann Satterfield, who was deaf and blind since birth- and did so for forty years. This led her to her career in home health. Tracy’s medical background consists of working with elderly and special needs individuals, the Youth Academy in Fairmont, Medical Assistant at Exemplar Medical for over eight years. Tracy has also worked in the insurance industry for over twenty years.

Tracy began her funeral home career several years ago as the Pre-Need counselor at another funeral home. Tracy has been employed by Mountain Funeral Group since 2019. She currently serves families as the Pre-need and After-need Specialist. Tracy strives to ensure quality customer service during each step of the Pre-Need process and truly goes above and beyond to help each individual and their family with all of their insurance and service planning and after care needs. 


James Harris

Rev. Harris is the son of the late Elder Johnnie and Mother Minnie Harris. He is the oldest of eight children.

Rev. Harris is married to Jeanne Harris. He is the father of four children, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is the step father of three children, and three grandchildren. 

Rev. Harris is a retired Marine who served our country for twenty-six years and obtained the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant (E-9).

Rev. Harris is a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and is licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of West Virginia. He was a funeral director and embalmer at J.C. Battles & Sons funeral home in Cincinnati, Ohio, Williams Mortuary in Huntington, WV and Chatman Funeral Home in Logan, WV. 

Rev. Harris has also pastored four churches in the past twenty-five years: John Gee AME church in Gallipolis, Ohio; Henderson Chapel AME Church, Wellsburg. West Virginia, Allen Chapel AME Church, Clarksburg, West Virginia and presently Bethel AME Church, Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Previous employee of a former Funeral Home for 6 years. A native of Taylor County growing up in Grafton. The daughter of the late Sam and Catherine Veltri. 1969 graduate of Grafton High School. Retired in 2006 with 32 years of service with the Dept. of Health and Human Resources as telephone operator/clerical. Also, works at the Harrison County Court House part-time in the Housekeeping Department. She attends St. James Catholic Church in Northview where she is a lector. She is married to Jimmy Mazzie.


Thom Alonso

Thom is a retired letter carrier from the Shinnston Post Office with thirty one years of service. He is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and attended West virginia Business college. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, National Active and Retired Federal Empoyees and National Association of Letter Carriers. He and his wife Cherie live in Shinnston and are the proud parents of two daughters Pam Kitchens, of Dallas, Texas and Maranie Warren of Columbus, Ohio and three grandchildren. Thom was Vice President for seven years before becoming President for thirteen years of NALC Branch 4458 representing nineteen post offices in north central West Virginia until retirement. He was the Health Benefits Representative of NALC Branch 4458 for Thirteen years. A US Army Vietnam veteran he was in recruiting in Louisville, Kentucky for the last thirteen months of service. Before working the postal service Thom was business coordinator for C & P Oil and Gas Company and Imperial Corporation. Thom is currently accountant for Communication Workers of America Local 2004 and was accountant for several businesses before retiring including Communication Workers of America Local 2011. Thom and his wife are members of Saint Ann Catholic Church in Shinnston.

A West Virginia native and a lifelong resident of Shinnston. Paul, a coal miner retired in 1995 from Consol Energy Robinson Run Mines. Paul started working at the funeral home in 2007. Married his high school sweetheart Karen (Shingleton) Harclerode and they have been married for over 51 years. They have three children and seven grandchildren. He enjoys golfing and camping at Big Bear. Paul loves his family, life and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Tracy has worked at Dorsey's Funeral Home since2009. He graduated from East Fairmont High School Class of 1959. Tracy was in the US Army during 1960 to 1963. He is a retired Coalminer from Robinson Run Mines # 95 with 33 years of service. He currently lives in Worthington, WV with his wife Carolyn Satterfield Smith of 48 years. They are the proud parents of three children, Brenda, Jeffery and Bryan; four grandchildren, Micheala, Jessica, Amanda and Joshua. He attends Bethel Baptist Church in Fairmont regularly. Tracy was a past District Governor, Lions 29 L where he has been a 47 year member, Masonic Lodge St John’s 324, 44 year Trustee of Cemetery Board and was former Mayor.

Eric Hensil was born and raised in North Central West Virginia.  Eric attended West Virginia University, graduating in 2005 with a double major in Sociology and Criminology.  While in attendance at WVU, he competed on the West Virginia University Rifle Team and won several awards. Eventually after he completed his undergraduate coursework, Eric began his law career by attending West Virginia University School of Law. He received a J.D. in May of 2012. Eric was sworn into the West Virginia State Bar in October of 2012.  Since that time, he has practiced in several different areas of the law to include, public defense, child custody cases, divorces, abuse and neglect, contract litigation, landlord/tenant disputes, civil rights cases, and estate planning.

Eric married the love of his life and they live together in Harrison County with their beautiful daughter. Eric has been with Mountain Funeral Group since 2019 as the exclusive estate attorney, working out of the Davis Funeral Home location.  Eric is extremely skilled at serving families by providing legal information to them regarding estates and other general legal matters, and to assist them in creating wills, deeds, powers of attorney, and providing other legal services.

Karen L. Bolyard is a secretary and funeral attendant for Bolyard Funeral Home in Newburg, WV and helps out at other locations when needed. She also works part-time as a mail courier in the Morgantown Area for the U.S. Post Office. Karen graduated from Newburg High School in 1975. She previously worked at Preston Memorial Hospital, Rosewood Nursing Home, and Belldina's Pharmacy. She is married to David W. Bolyard Sr., and they reside in Newburg (Birdscreek Community). Karen has three children, David W. Bolyard Jr., Shelley L. Bolyard, and Derek M. Bolyard. She also handles B & S memorials which was founded in 1995.

A West Virginia natvie born in Harrison County. He grew up in the Stealey section of Clarksburg. The son of the late Robert E. and Geneive White. A 1960 graduate of Washington Irving High School. A graduate of Gordon Military College Barnsville, Ga. majored in business, a graduate of Allegheny Technical Institute for Electronics Pittsburgh, Pa. with Electronic Technician Degree. Retired from 3M company with 19 years service as a master Electronic Technician. Retired from Mylan Pharmaceuticals maintenance department as an air handler/filter technician. Was a member of Pace (United steel workers) 5-097 as a union stewart. A licensed WVA Realtor since 1981. Married to Frances Jean Kroll, she is a West Virginia native born in Harrison County. Wayne and Jean attend Trinity Assembly of God in Fairmont. They have two daughters Jennifer L. White and Deborah J. White. They attend Stealey Assembly of God.


Adam Messenger

A West Virginia Native, Adam Messenger is a United States Army Veteran with two deployments to Iraq. After discharging from the military, Adam married the love of his life, Juni Sandy, in 2004 and together they have two beautiful children. He is an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman and loves his family, friends, and country. He is also a member of the Clarksburg, VFW. Adam has been an employee of Mountain Funeral Group since 2019 and services all of our locally owned funeral homes. 


Rev. James Harris

Judy G. Palmer

Judy Palmer a West Virginia native born and raised in Cameron, WV, a 1990 graduate Cameron High School and a 1992 graduate of WV Business College in Wheeling, WV, where she earned an Associate’s degree in Business Management.  In 2007 she met the love of her life, David Palmer. They then married in 2009.  Judy is a mom of two children, Jason and Morgan. In 2017 she became a Nana to two grandchildren, Allyson and Jebediah. Judy lives a faith filled life with her husband and enjoys the quiet quality time they spend together on their boat, Harley, or on the front porch swinging. They also enjoy tourism to different locations around the world.  Judy has been a member of Jewel City Church in Meadowbrook, WV since 2012, where she has served her church and community through the women’s group, church choir, VBS, greeting ministry and is currently and passionately serving on the media team.

After working in the retail industry for 25 years in different levels of management, in 2013 Judy decided to go out on her own and successfully built and operated her own pet grooming and boarding business for eight years. Eventually, two of her family members took ill and she chose to close her business and assist in caring for them in their final days. In February 2020 Judy joined the staff at Mountain Funeral Group as a at Dorsey Funeral Home in Shinnston, WV.

With a heart to serve others Judy’s biggest desire is to help alleviate the stress of preparing to say goodbye to a loved one by creating joyful story through their loved ones legacy to cherish. 


Shayla Danielle Posey

Administrative Assistant

Shayla Danielle Posey was born in Weston to parents Dennis Posey and Suzanne D’Anselmi. Shayla was a twenty-five year resident of the Stealey area of Clarksburg and attended Harrison County Schools. She graduated from Robert C. Byrd High School in 2008. She attended Fairmont State University from 2008-2012, majoring in Psychology, and Clarksburg School of Massage Therapy in 2012. Shayla was a student of various phases of dance and acrobat from the age of two until her graduation in 2008.  She attended The Studio for the Performing Arts in North View and was a member of the Robert C. Byrd Band/Danceline. She also was an instructor at The Studio from 2011-2014. Shayla’s interests include spending time with her friends and family, being outside, art, music and theatre, laughing, and learning new things. Shayla has been with Mountain Funeral Group since 2020, working as an administrative assistant at Davis Funeral Home in Clarksburg.
