Ralph Dale Wolfe

Ralph Dale Wolfe, age 83, of Knottsville, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at Beulah Land Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 27, 1931 in Tucker County son of the late Cecil Otto and Iris Hovatter Wolfe. His wife of fifty nine years, Shirley Frances Nestor Wolfe survives and they were married April 16, 1955.
Ralph was in the US Air Force from March 1951 through March 1955. In 1952 he was stationed in Japan and Korea during the Korean conflict. He earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations medal, National Defense medal, and Good Conduct Medal. In later years he continued serving his country as a member of the VFW Post 3081 Color Guard and participated in over two thousand two hundred and twenty eight funerals. He retired from St. Regis with forty two years of services. Ralph was a member of the Knottsville United Methodist Church for fifty plus years, member of the Taylor County Color Guard, Taylor County Shrine Club, VFW Post #3081, DeMolay Commandery No. 11, Copestone Chapter No. 12 RAM, Masonic Blue Lodge AF and AM #15 in Grafton. Ralph loved hunting, fishing, ginsenging and being outdoors.
In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by his three children, Dianna Poling and husband Kenny , Frederick, MD, Cindy Gibson, Bridgeport, and Jerry Wolfe and wife Deanna "DeeDee" of Knottsville, four grandchildren; Jed Wolfe, Kayla Cuppett and husband Michael, Ashley Murphy and husband Zach, Heather Gibson and fiancé' Robert Santos; five great grandchildren; Grant Murphy, Gavin Murphy, Torianna Wolfe, Octavia Wolfe, and Madeleine Santos; two brothers, Charles Wolfe and wife Joanne, Wisconsin, Bill Wolfe and wife Patty, Florida, one sister, Wanda Nesler and husband Terry, Florida, one sister-in-law; Elva Wolfe, Grafton, and a special brother-in-law Willis Nestor and wife Patricia, Grafton.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ellis Wolfe and Donald Ray Wolfe in infancy; one sister, Dorothy Schooley.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 2-8 pm. Funeral service will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11:00AM with Rev Dan Lowther officiating. Interment will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Memorial City Post #3081, American Legion Taylor County Post # 12, Central WV DAV Chapter 24 and their auxiliaries, and the National Air Force Honor Guard.
