William “Bill” Thayer Mason

William “Bill” Thayer Mason, 87 of Grafton, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025 at Grafton City Hospital. He was born in Grafton, August 2, 1937, son of the late Stephen A. and Ruby Helen Watson Mason. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Jean Bolyard Mason, March 31, 2020.

Bill was a graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1956. He was proud veteran of the US Navy. Bill worked thirty-six years and retired as a train dispatcher for CSX railroad. He always liked new challenges, and became a private pilot while also taking on the sport of scuba diving and riding motorcycles. Bill was an involved member of the BPO Elks 308 and the Moose Club. He always enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.

Bill is survived by three daughters, Tammy Jean Foley (Charles), Kathy Lou McDaniel, Brenda Gail Mason (Melissa); six grandchildren, Andrea, Chazz, Matthew, Brent, Cody, and Travis; six great grandchildren, Isabella, K.J., Carder, Aiden, Mason and Charlotte Kate, one sister, Sandra Joy Allison (Walter) many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife Bill was preceded on death by one sister, Patricia Gall; two brothers, Stephen Mason, and Donald Mason.

A Celebration of Life for Bill and Helen will be held at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, receiving friends from 10:00AM until 12:00PM the hour of the funeral with Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating.
