William Warren Schaefer, 73 of Morgantown (formerly of Grafton) passed away Monday August 18, 2025 at Morgantown Heights Nursing Home. He was born on November 7, 1951, son of the late George Leonard Sr. and Michiko Hara Schaefer. William was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Jeannette Knotts Schaefer, September 11, 2015. Arrangements are incomplete at this time. Bartlett Funeral Home is honored to serve the Schaefer family.
William graduated from Grafton High School, Class of 1970. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. William dedicated his career to serving others, working as an EMT with Grafton EMS, and Jan Care. He also worked as a Correctional Officer at Pruntytown Correctional Center. Always quick to answer the call, William could be counted on whenever he was needed. In his leisure time, he was an avid bowler who enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie of the game.
William is survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Schaefer, and Irene Collins (Allen); one brother George L. Schaefer Jr. (Kim), several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the West Virginia National Cemetery with Chaplain Randy Jennings officiating with full military honors accorded the Taylor County Honor Guard and US Airforce Honor Guard.
