Sheila Mae (Kennedy) Sheme

Sheila Mae Sheme (Kennedy), a lifelong resident of Grafton, West Virginia, was reunited with her beloved husband on August 5, 2026, at the age of 85.

​Sheila was born in Grafton on November 17, 1940, to the late Ressie Ray and Cora Belle Kennedy. On May 14, 1958, she began a beautiful 60-year journey of marriage with Jesse Ronald Sheme, who preceded her in death on December 2, 2018. A familiar face in the community, Sheila worked for years at Baby World in Grafton. More than anything, Sheila's life revolved around her family. She loved nothing more than having her loved ones gathered around her, and she rarely missed an episode of Days of Our Lives.

​Her memory will be treasured by her loving children, Sandra Kay Sheme of Grafton, William Ray Sheme and his wife Tammy of Grafton, and Ronald Bryan Sheme of Bridgeport.

She also leaves behind her four grandchildren, Dallas Ray Sheme, Jarrod Blake Sheme and Mary, Noah Matthew Sheme, and Bethany Renee Sheme; her precious great-grandchild, Uriah Jesse Ray Sheme; and Barbara Renee Sheme of Thornton, mother to Jarrod, Noah, and Bethany.

​In addition to her husband and parents, Sheila was preceded in death by all nine of her brothers and sisters: Wilmouth, Juanita, Virginia, Evelyn, Ressie (June), Melba, Christina, Julius (Judy), and Beryl.

Family and friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton on Sunday, August 9, 2026 from 3:00PM until 7:00PM and on Monday, August 10, 2026 from 10:00AM until 12:00PM the hour of the funeral with Rev. David “DJ” Maley officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery.
