Sharon Tzavaras Obituary

Sharon Lea Kalo Tzavaras, 59, passed away Wednesday, February 23 in Morgantown.  She was born June 5, 1962, in Philippi, WV the daughter of Catherine Hamric Kalo and Jasper Alexander Kalo.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Peter Tzavaras, her sisters, Cynthia Steenstra and husband, Carl, of Grafton, Marlene Kalo, of Grafton, and Laura Kalo Gow and husband David, of Chemainus, BC, Canada and New Orleans, LA.; her niece, Erica Steenstra Bunner and husband Curt, of Crestview Hills, KY, her nephew, Jeremy Steenstra and wife Aterra, of Morgantown, and her niece, Lauren Fellner, of Vail CO; a great nephew, Carlin Bunner, and great nieces, Audra and Aurora Steenstra.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Paula Rind, brother-in-law, Joel Rind, and niece, Zoey Ryan-Rind.  

Sharon graduated from Grafton High School in 1980 and from WVU in 1984 with a BS in Business and Finance. At Grafton High Sharon was active in the Music and Theater Program, Keyettes, Grafton High’s Flag Corp, and various organizations.  At WVU she was a member of Flag Corp with the WVU Band and the Alpha Phi Fraternity and remained active with the group as an alumni throughout her life.  Sharon worked as an accountant and bookkeeper in several businesses.   

An animal lover, Sharon cared for dogs and cats her entire life; she was a gardener and enjoyed planting and caring for her flowers.  Sharon liked travelling and trying new foods.

While growing up in Grafton she was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and has attended several different churches throughout the years.   In recent years she attended the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Morgantown with her husband.  

Donations in Sharon’s memory may be made to any area animal shelter.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday March 1, 2022 at Woodsdale Cemetery at 2:00pm with the FR. Jon Emanuelson of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church officiating.
