Sandra "Sandy" Kaye Swiger

Sandra Kaye Swiger, 60 of Grafton, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, She was born December 2, 1965 in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late Delmas Wolfe, and is survived by her mother, Kaye Goodnow Sigley, Sandy is survived by her husband, Richard Swiger.

Sandy was a proud graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1984, and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in education from Salem University. She dedicated part of her career to serving as a correctional officer at the West Virginia Correctional Facility in Pruntytown, a role she carried out with strength and compassion.

Sandy found her true joy in working as a substitute teacher. She cherished every moment spent in the classroom, embracing the opportunity to connect with students, guide them, and be a positive influence in their lives. Each class, each student, held a special place in her heart.

She had a deep appreciation for life’s simple, beautiful moments—quiet mornings and evenings spent on the porch, peaceful walks along the beach, and the soothing sound of birds in the air. Sandy had a gift for connection; she never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere.

Above all, Sandy loved her family. She treasured time spent together, whether it was shopping—especially finding great deals on Temu—or relaxing by the ocean, soaking up the warmth of the sun. Her kindness, warmth, and joyful spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Sandy is survived by one daughter, Tiffani West (Ben); a special niece, Avery Wolfe; two sisters, Betty Mayle (Sam), and Belinda Smith (Chris), two brothers, Delmas Wolfe, and Ronnie Wolfe; seven nieces and nephews, Haley, Madison, Trevor, Briar, Danny, Derek, and Jordon.
