SPC Thomas Sheldon Newlon

SPC Thomas Sheldon Newlon, 24 of Grafton WV passed away on August 15, 2024 at Fort Bliss in El Paso TX where he was stationed. He was born in Morgantown on May 19, 2000, the son of Thomas Sherman Newlon (Samantha) and Vicky Bell Reed all of Grafton.

Thomas graduated from Grafton High School Class of 2018. After graduation, Thomas joined the US Army and was an 88M Motor Transport Operator currently at Fort Bliss. He enjoyed playing video games, fishing, hanging out with friends, having movie nights, and loved his cats, Maverick and Ringo.

In addition to his parents, Thomas is survived by his wife, Evelyn Faith Shingleton Newlon, whom he married on March 25, 2023; siblings, James Sherman Newlon, Mattie Kathryn Newlon, and Katelyn Mae Newlon; step sister, Kaylie June Reed; mother-in-law, Donna Cawthon and husband Scott of Weston; brother-in-law, Cory Shingleton of GA; best friends, Kaleb Toth and Dylan Massie; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Thomas is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Robert Junior Reed I and Patricia June Hose Reed; paternal grandmother, Joan Etta Jenkins Newlon; father-in-law, William Shingleton.

Family and friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 2-7PM and on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 11:30AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Charles Glover officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the US ARMY Honor Guard.
