Ruby Eileen Phillips

Ruby "Eileen" Marsh Phillips, age 97 of Brownlow Park, Grafton, WV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Taylor Healthcare Center with family by her side.

Eileen was born in Clemtown, Barbour County, WV on December 7, 1925 to the late Odburn Lonzo and Delphia Opal Weaver Marsh.

Eileen was married to the late Robert Herman Phillips on June 23, 1947, who preceded her in death on

March 8, 2009.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eileen was preceded in death by her two sisters, Dorothy (Chilton) McVicker, Jean (Wilford "Dink") Stead and one brother Dallas (Patty) Marsh. Eileen was the last survivor of her immediate family.

Eileen is survived by one daughter, Sheila "Susie" (David) Swisher of Grafton, WV. One granddaughter, Amy (Doug) Milbrand of Morgantown, WV. One grandson, Joel (Jessica) Swisher and one great-granddaughter Eilee Jo Swisher, of Charleston, WV. Eileen is also survived by a very special sister-in-law, Sylvia Ruth (Smith Jr.) Shroyer of Lincolnshire, IL. and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Eileen worked at Kroger in Philippi until she moved to Grafton. She then worked at Hazel Atlas until she married in 1947.

Eileen was a faithful member of the Blueville United Methodist Church in Grafton, always working in the kitchen and organizing church dinners.

Eileen enjoyed working in her yard and flower beds, gardening, canning, and taking care of her parakeets and aquarium of fish. She was known for her fabulous pies, cakes and other desserts which she made every weekend for her family and friends. She loved traveling and also camping with family and friends.

Eileen's most cherished time was spent with family and friends, and the weekend gatherings playing dominoes, Rook, UNO, or Rummy. As her family and friends began fading away, she started playing bingo at the Taylor County Senior Center and then the Taylor Healthcare Center.

Eileen will be greatly missed for her gift of hospitality and helping others.

The family would like to thank the Taylor Healthcare Center, Amedisys Hospice, and Dr. Bender for all the care, love, and support they've shown to Eileen and her family.

Family and friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM and on Sunday, October 01, 2023 from 11:00AM until the hour of the funeral at 1:00PM with Rev. David Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Woodsdale Memorial Park.
