Roy Young

Roy Young, 68, of Family Drive, Grafton, WV passed away unexpectedly with family by his side on Friday 6 December, 2024, at the United Hospital Center.

Born in Newfoundland, Canada, on 19 January 1956, he was the son of the late Charles and Janet Young, of Grafton.

Roy was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Grafton for 28 years, serving on the Lawn and Maintenance Committee and as a trustee. He made his living as a truck driver for 42 years,

known as Froglegs, before retiring in February 2019. Roy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, collecting guns, camping, boating and fishing.

Roy is survived by his wife Debra Lynn McDaniels Waters Young, spending 35 years of marriage together. He is also survived by children: Amanda Cox (Ron), Thornton; Charles Waters (Stephanie), Waco Texas; Jessica Cox (Jesse), Thornton; and Trevor Waters (Lelia), Rivesville; 18 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings: Patrice Swisher, Loreli Hart (Jim), Charles 'Bud' Young (Judy) and Albert (Skip) Young, all of Grafton, Carol Lynn Young, Franklin, NC; many nieces and nephews; and his fur babies, Cooper and Miles.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by sister Janette Poling in April 2024.

Honoring Roy's wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church in Grafton with Rev Michel Boyer officiating.
