Rosemary Harlene (Matthews) Satterfield, 87, of Independence, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025, at Grafton City Hospital. She was born December 7, 1937, a daughter of the late William Matthews and Mildred (Holmes) Matthews. Her husband, Lawrence Ray “Larry” Satterfield, preceded her in death Sept. 2, 2013.
Rosemary was a 1955 graduate of Grafton High School. She and Larry were united in marriage June 24, 1955. Rosemary worked babysitting in her home for more than 30 years, she also worked at Mon General Hospital and Subway. She enjoyed flower gardening and was a wonderful cook known for her hot rolls. She also liked to crochet and read and she and Larry enjoyed many cruises together. She was a member of the Independence Baptist Church.
Surviving are: two sons, Richard E. “Rick” Satterfield and wife Gina, and Rodney R. Satterfield, all of Independence; one daughter, Brenda Dawn Blosser and husband Fred, of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Matthew Francis Blosser, Elizabeth Price Satterfield, John L. “JacK” Satterfield, and Nicole McCartney and husband Jimmy; one great grandson, Cutler; four sisters in law, Barbara Matthews, of Grafton, Pat Matthews, Punxsutawney, PA, Ruby Guthrie, Grafton, and Margaret Satterfield, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by: one daughter, Sheri Janelle Grubb, in 2023; and two brothers, William A. Matthews and Robert D. Matthews.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Wednesday, May 21st from 3-7 pm, and Thursday, May 22nd from 10 am until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home at 12 noon, Thursday, May 22, 2025. Pastor Carl Trickett officiating. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery.
