Robert "Bob" Spencer Obituary

Robert Mearl Spencer, 78 of Flemington, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Clarksburg, April 25, 1944. Son of the late Mearl and Helen Rus Spencer. He was married to Barbara Jean Stout in November of 1966, spending fifty-six years together.

Bob grew up in Rosemont, graduated from Flemington High School. He worked at Pittsburgh Plate, Grafton Coal, and Barbour Coal as a utility man and D9 dozer operator. Bob believed in hard work and lived it. He was a little league coach and Babe Ruth Baseball coach. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman and a WVU sports fan. Bob loved being with his family and friends. He spent lots of time with his family making great memories with each of them.

Bob is survived by three children, Timothy Spencer (Jacqueline), Flemington,Thomas Spencer (Jacqualyn), Morgantown, Tina Wooddell, Flemington, grandchildren, Sydnie, Kolton, Slayton and Gracesyn Spencer, Skylar and Stratten Woodell, Adrian Seth, Seean and Sheena Jones and Scarlett Rinker, great grandchildren,  Shyanne, Sadie,  and Jayden and Hannah Rinker, Megan Elizabeth Montgomery, Axton Jones, Isaiah, Nathan and Kaley Gamez, and Jaycee Armendariz,  great great granddaughter, Azlynn Ruby Montgomery, mother-in-law, Martha Jean Stout,  two sisters,  Carolyn Austin, Latrobe, PA, Crystal Ryan (Claude) Bridgeport, two sisters-In-law, Pam Spencer, Bridgeport, and Patty Spencer, Rosemont and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Spencer and Rodney Spencer, father-in-law, Raymond Daniel Stout, niece Patricia Ware, nephew, Craig Ware, and brother-in-law, Dave Austin.

In lieu of flowers make donations to the Simpson Cemetery in care of Luella Burton, 2657 Simpson Road, Flemington WV 26347.
