Obituary

Robert “Bob” Gale Kisner, 76 of Barrackville, formerly of Grafton passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Mon General Hospital, Morgantown with loved ones by his side. He was born February 13, 1947 in Grafton, a son of the late Elden Gail Kisner and Bettie Virginia (Barcus) McCue.Bob was a graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1967. He was retired from the U.S. Army, was a proud veteran, and a Vietnam War Vet. Bob also retired as a correctional officer from the Pruntytown Correctional Center. He was a real outdoorsman who loved to go fishing, hunting, camping and traveled throughout the country to enjoy those hobbies, visiting National State Parks, attending the Bassmaster Classics, and making friends on every trip. Bob was very active with Project Healing Waters, Appalachian Wounded Warriors, and Fish For Our Troops. He officiated the annual WVTA Bass Tournament for 35 years. He was a long-time member of B.A.S.S., Tri-County Bass Anglers, Tygart Valley Fishing Club, the Elks and Moose Lodge, a member of the Marion County Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Most of all, Bob loved his time spent with his family and each of his friends. 

Bob is survived by one daughter, Beth A. (Joseph) Davis, one son Brian G. (Jessica) Kisner, one granddaughter, Brittany Davis (Connor) Lowry, two grandsons, Kaden and Gage Boran, one sister, Sandra Burnell, three nieces, Connie Patrick, Cindy Patrick Popovich, Cathy Patrick (Kevin) Moriarty, and many great nieces and nephews.

At his request cremation services are being handled by Bartlett Funeral Home. A military graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023 with Minister Rick Bloom officiating at the West Virginia National Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

He will be deeply missed by his loved ones and the many friends whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.

Bob’s family will be gathering for a celebration of life party, per his request, at his camps in Elkins, W.V. The family would be honored if you’d join them on at his favorite place on Friday, August 18th (that starts early evening and ends with an evening around the campfire) and/or Saturday, August 19th (that starts in the afternoon and ends with an evening around the campfire). This gathering carries with it a festive nature by sharing our favorite stores, photographs, and joyful memories.
