Phillip "Phil" Menear Obituary

Phillip Lloyd Menear,77 of Parkview passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Rosewood Nursing Home. He was born June 25, 1948 in Grafton, son of the late Kenneth Menear and Irene Martha Phillips Menear. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Judy Shackleford Menear,

Phil was a proud graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1966, and carried that pride with him throughout his life. He honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and love for his nation. Phil worked at Rex-Hide, Westinghouse and more than twenty-two years to the United States Postal Service, where his strong work ethic and reliability never went unnoticed

A Life Member of the D.A.V., Phil cherished the camaraderie of meetings and activities, always ready to lend a helping hand to fellow veterans. Phil enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid WVU and Steelers fan. He was a Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Grafton, Phil enjoyed every single day he spent with his Suri girl, who was the love of his life. He treasured time spent with his family and friends. Wherever he went, he had a gift for striking up conversations and making new friends, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was immensely proud of his family and deeply loved the moments they shared together, creating memories that will be held close forever.

Phil is survived by one daughter, Tiersten Stemple; two grandsons, Ty Stemple and JD Braham; one granddaughter Talerie Stemple; three great grandchildren, Suri, Trey and T.J.; a special nephew, Justin Ringler; a sister in-law, Janet Ringler and Vaughn.

In addition to his parents, Phil is preceded in death by one grandson, Tray Stemple; three sisters, Carolyn Withers, Connie Gavitt, and Loretta (Muggy) Lurer.

To honor Phil’s wishes he will be cremated, A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the West Virginia National Cemetery with full military honors will be accorded by the US Air Force Honor Guard and the Taylor County VFW Honor Guard.
