Peter Paul Oliver, 76, of the Oak Grove Community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Charleston, WV, on October 29, 1949, son of the late Paul Peter and Esta Virginia Bunnell Oliver Toothman.
Pete is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia Sue Baker Oliver, whom he married on March 26, 1988. Together they shared thirty-seven years of marriage filled with laughter, partnership, and a deep, abiding love.
Pete never met a stranger. With his natural charm and “gift to gab,” he built a long and successful career in sales, sharing his talents in advertising with the Mountain Statesman, the Clarksburg Exponent, and several magazines and retail companies. His curiosity for the world made him an avid reader and a true history buff—always eager to learn, always ready with a story.
At heart, Pete loved the outdoors and the simple joys of living on the farm. Being a “hobby” farmer brought him peace, but nothing brought him more happiness than the time he spent with his family. The moments shared with his wife and son—every conversation, every laugh, every quiet evening—are treasured memories that will continue to warm the hearts of those who loved him.
Pete is survived by his son, Henry “Hank” Paul Oliver; two nieces, Arielle Vanderwijst (Drew) and Allison Harrison; two nephews, Frankie Baker (Lindsey) and Kyle Harrison; and two great-nephews, Copper Vanderwijst and Baker Vanderwijst.
Honoring Pete’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a Celebration of His Life will be held at a later date.
