Pastor Ronald "Ron" Gene Ford

Pastor Ronald “Ron” Gene Ford, 74 of Grafton went to his heavenly home, Sunday December 16, 2018 after one month of knowing he had pancreatic and liver cancer, leaving his family and earthly home. He was born July 8, 1944 in Grafton, son of the late Alfred Aaron and Gladys Sinsel Ford.

Ron graduated from Grafton High School, Class of 1962. He served in the Army Reserves for six years.  He taught welding and metal fabrication in Marion and Monongalia County for twenty nine years. Ron had several of his VIC students recognized with state awards.  He was past member of the Masonic Lodge #15 A.F. & A.M, Order of the Eastern Star #12 and the Grafton VFW 3081. He was currently the Pastor at the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served for thirteen years.  Ron has always put his Lord first in his life and he preached God’s word from 1989 until God called him home. He was pastor previously at Lynn Chapel, Harmony Grove, Flemington Baptist, and Calvary Baptist. He had a love for singing bass in quartets which he did for over fifty years with the Followers Quartet, Christian Heirs and ending with the Cross Roads Quartet.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Mary Linda “Peggy” Exline Ford whom he married May 9, 1964. They had fifty four wonderful years together; one daughter, Sondra Kay Ford; one son, Robert M Ford; both at home, two sisters, Mary Katheryn Matthews and Dorothy Lee Trickett and husband Walter all of Grafton; two nieces, Joy Knight and husband Jim, and Jane Abel and husband Rich all of Grafton; one nephew, Tom Trickett and wife Janet, Morgantown; several great nieces and nephews including Ryan Trickett, Shinnston; andhis four legged companion, Rusty.

In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Donal Matthews.

Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 2-9PM and on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 9:00AM until time of funeral service at 2:00PM with Pastor Carl Trickett officiating.
