Norman Lee Austin, 77 of Harmony Grove, passed away Monday, November 28, 2022 at Taylor Health Care Center. Norman was born in Taylor County on October 18,1945, son of the late Benjamin “Waldo” and Esther Bolyard Phillips.
Norman was the owner and operator of Austin Trucking. He was a member of Teamsters Local 175 Independent Truckers. Norman was a long- time member of the Beulah Baptist Church and enjoyed gospel and bluegrass music. He was a real fan of NASCAR racing and old western movies. Norman was an outgoing person who enjoyed socializing with other truckers and his friends at McDonalds. He loved being with people and especially loved spending time with family and friends.
Norman is survived by two children, Kent Austin (Lorraine) Grafton, Karen Mayle (Dennis) Church Hill, TN, one grandson, Garrett Mayle, five brothers, Everett Austin, Youngsville, NC, Cam Phillips (Peggy), Donnie Phillips (Patty), Ralph Phillips (Pat), Ronnie Phillips (Nina), two sisters, Norma Shay, Delores Kacin.
In addition to his parents Norman is preceded in death by two brothers, Edward “Sam” Bolyard, and Tyrone Phillips, one sister, Carrie Phillips.
To honor Norman’s wishes he will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at noon 12:00 PM, Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Beulah Baptist Church Community Building with Pastor David Bess sharing prayers of comfort.
