Nancy Sue (Bombardiere) Pettit

Nancy Sue Pettit, 85, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 26, 1940, in Fairmont, she was the cherished daughter of the late Frank Robert and Jeanette Elizabeth Colanero Bombardiere. Nancy was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Merle Pettit, Jr., who preceded her in death on November 26, 2013.

Nancy was a high school graduate who followed her passion by attending beauty school, becoming a skilled and devoted beautician. She spent many years doing work she truly loved, eventually fulfilling her dream of owning her own business, Nancy’s Hair Styling, in La Verne, California. Her salon was more than a workplace—it was a place of laughter, conversation, and connection.

An avid traveler, Nancy delighted in exploring new places, savoring different foods, and meeting people from all walks of life. Wherever she went, she brought joy with her. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome, turning brief encounters into lasting friendships. Known for her kind and generous heart, Nancy’s warmth, strength, and vibrant spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She will be deeply missed by her loving children: daughters Philomena Liberty (Bill) and Toni Marie Knight (Keith), and her son Jerome “Jay” A. Pettit (Joleen). She also leaves behind several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, Dennis Bombardiere (Pam).

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Frank “Junior” Bombardiere.
