Melanie Diane (Kite) McDaniel

Melanie Diane McDaniel 73, of Grafton passed away at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown on Friday, September 30, 2022. She was born March 3, 1949 in Thornton, daughter of the late Paul C. and Oieda DeMoss Kite. She is survived by her husband Charles "Chuck" Sheme, they were married July 28, 2012 spending more than ten wonderful years together.

Melanie was a graduate from Grafton High School, Class of 1967. She worked as a beautician at her own shop for lots of years, the Country Lane Beauty Shop. She enjoyed being in the outdoors, camping and fishing. Melanie enjoyed sewing, crafting and listening to gospel music. She liked being with her friends and family. Melanie loved her family and treasured each of them as her greatest joy, she will be greatly missed by all that knew her especially her family.

Melanie is survived by one daughter, Tara McDaniel, three grandchildren, Shawn Cox , (Jamie), Allyson Cox, and Grant Wolfe, six great grandchildren, lzzybella Cox, Emmitt Cox, Shawn Cox II, Annalee Turner Dwight Cox, and Bailey McDaniel, four step-children, Karen Dalton (Butch), Renzie Sheme, Tammy Setler (Jim), and Melinda Jenkins (Kim), seven step-grandchildren, Natasha, Samantha, River, Morgan, J.C., Jenny and Cody, seven step-grandchildren, Madelyn, Landon, Lillly, Myron, Ryder, Nila, Dean and one on the way.

In addition to her parents Melanie is preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Dwight "Duke" McDaniel, and her son, Michael McDaniel, one sister, Sarah Powellson, two brothers, Dickie Kite and Terry Kite.

Family and Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Wednesday October 5, 2022 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM the hour of the funeral with Pastor Randall Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at the Knottsville Cemetery.
