The beautiful and loving soul of Matthew Rogers Pickens left this world August 31, 2025 to be with Our Heavenly Father. Matthew’s Momma prayed that God would give her another baby; and Momma’s prayers were answered. Matthew was welcomed into this world by his loving parents Regina Louise (Rogers) Pickens and Joshua Oren Pickens, his brother William and a joyful family on the snowy morning of January 21, 2007.
Matthew was a joyful boy, the adopter of many baby animals, who spent his days shirtless, shoeless and with frogs in his pockets. He loved being in the workshop with his Dad and took his training wheels off at the age of 2.
Matthew was always concerned about the well-being of his family and friends, but especially his Momma. He was a kind and happy young man of many talents, a diligent worker who enjoyed using his skill and hands for many family home improvement projects and his many automobile projects. Matthew was a welder and fabricator by trade. Matthew loved dirt bike racing with his father, his mother’s annual Christmas scavenger hunts, family vacation adventures, fishing and hunting and hanging out with his friends.
Matthew is survived by his beloved dog Bo, his parents, his brother William Oren Pickens, his paternal grandparents Tom and Karen Pickens, his maternal grandmother Karen Stead Rogers, his aunt Ada Deneen and William Jett, his aunt Nancy Lorraine and Jeff Isner, his aunt Leah Marie Arnold, his cousins Kevin Allen Curtis (Rabiatul Hamizah Muhammad Noor), Jon Levi Curtis (Shoshana), Nancy Isner (Nikhil Bharadwaj), Raymond Isner, Brandon Arnold (Siri Heikkilä), Miranda Arnold (Brandon Grimes), and Hannah Arnold. Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather David William Rogers.
