Kathleen Parkinson Obituary

It is with grateful hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Kathleen Wiseman Parkinson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on January 31, 2025 at the age of 95.

Born in Grafton in the age of the great depression on December 23, 1929, Kathleen lived a life filled with resilience. Her unwavering dedication to her loved ones was a testament to the strength of her spirit. We celebrate what is surely a joyful reunion with her loving husband Charles (Parkey), who was called home in 1997.

A devoted mother to Linda Lou Peters Cockrell (Bob, deceased) of Morgantown, a proud grandmother to two grandchildren, Kathleen Cockrell Arbuthnot (David) and Kelly Renee Cockrell Radinsky (John), and a loving great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren, Connor Wentz and (Lydia), Emma Arbuthnot, Jordon Wentz, Calista Wentz and Brendan Arbuthnot.

Kathleen found her greatest joy in her family. She delighted in hosting family gatherings in her home, which was filled with laughter and delicious meals. Kathleen spent most of her later years enjoying frequent visits from her cherished neighbors on Love Avenue and caring for her beloved cat Dolly.

She could often be seen out in her yard tending her flowers and picture worthy, giant tomato plants. She also enjoyed writing poetry and short stories.

Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created through out her long life will continue to inspire and comfort those who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her granddaughter Kathleen Arbuthnot, her husband, Dave Arbuthnot, and close friends, Cassandra and Joe Beaty and Grace and Richard Wolfe for their tireless and compassionate care in her final days. She also enjoyed frequent visits from her dear friend Angie Lovejoy and beloved niece, Tammy Shaffer.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her mother Amy Wiseman, father Leslie Wiseman, sisters JoAnn Shaffer (Carl) and Susie Peters (Carl), brother Bud Wiseman (Mary Lou), devoted nephew Michael Shaffer, husband Charles Parkinson and son-in-law Robert “Bob” Cockrell.

Family and friends are invited to join us as we honor her memory and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
