John Paul Teagarden, 53 of Morgantown, formerly of Grafton passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. He was born in Morgantown on March 13, 1970, son of Richard “Dick” and Pamela (Dean) Teagarden.
John attended Grafton High School and Fairmont State University. After college he worked and lived in Sarasota, FL where he enjoyed time on the beach. He was a caring, compassionate person and frequently rescued cats including his loving companions, Sampson, Mary Jane, and Katy. John was an accomplished guitar player and had a deep love of music, especially rock music. Growing up John was active in sports, mostly baseball. He was a catcher, and played Little League and Senior League where his dad was his coach. He was an All-Star player. John loved his family and friends and was grateful for each one of them. Life has not always been easy for John. He had struggles, but we are grateful for the past year and the fight that he fought. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, John is survived by his sister, Jennifer Armentrout (Johnny) and his beloved nieces, Sydney and Hannah of Morgantown; special aunt and uncle, Judy and William “Bill” Collett, Grafton, who he loved spending time with; two uncles, Kenneth F. and (Ruthanne) Dean, Fairmont and Kevin Dean, Morgantown, several cousins, Christina, Gigi, Jeff, Meredith, Kara, Ryan and Rick.
John is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J. Lee and Georgia Teagarden; maternal grandparents, L.G. “Grant” and Katheryn “Kate” Dean; one uncle, Robert Dean, one niece Ellie Armentrout.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Tuesday August 8, 2023 from 4:00PM until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 PM with Pastor Lynn Cartwright officiating. Private Inurnment will be held at a later date on the Teagarden lot at the Sunset Memorial Park, Mt. Clare Rd. in Clarksburg, WV.
