John Lawrence Reed, 74 of Grafton passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Rosewood Nursing Home, Grafton, WV. He was born October 13, 1950 in Grafton, son of the late James Ralph and Delores Ann Rosier Reed.
John was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corp. He served two tours in Vietnam during his time in service. John retired with many years of service in the coal mines as a Federal Mine Inspector for the Mine Safety Health Administration. He was an avid sports fan watching a game whenever he had time to catch one. John enjoyed hunting while looking for a trophy deer or just being in the outdoors. He loved getting together with his family and friends.
John is survived by one daughter, Amy Gutshall (Ron); one son, John L. Reed, ll (Charity); seven grandchildren, Tyler, Alana and Austin, Lily, Amelia, Matthew, Samuel and Dylan.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Quinn Reed; one sister, Theresa “Terry” Gay; two brothers, Gerald “Jerry” Reed, and James R. Reed, Jr.
A Graveside service will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery with inurnment at 2:00PM Friday, January 31, 2025, full Military Rites will be accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard with Chaplain Randy Jennings officiating and the US Marine Corp.
