John Hostler Obituary

John W. Hostler, 87 of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born October 4, 1934 in Grafton, son of the late John Howard and Marie Isabelle Davis Hostler. He lived many years in Pittsburgh, PA with his loving wife Athena “Bo” Andrews Hostler who passed on June 22, 2014, spending fifty-five years together.

John was a graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1952, and a graduate of the West Virginia University. He served in the United States Marine Corp and worked at the National Labor Relations Board his whole career, retiring as the Assistant Regional Director. He was affectionately known as Pop-Pop, a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, brother in-law, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be forever missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by three children; John Hostler (Elizabeth), Amy Dindak (Michael), and James “Jim” Hostler (Jennifer), seven grandchildren; Connor, Clint, Johnny, Grant, Attie, Andy, and Cooper, a brother; Paul Hostler of Ohio, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife John is preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ellen Greathouse, and two brothers Davis Hostler and Tommy Hostler.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Greensburg Bed and Biscuit Angel Fund, 121 Buttonwood Ln, Martinsburg, WV 25404 for their charity care of animals.

Family and friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave. Grafton, WV, on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM the hour of the funeral with Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating.
