Joan Etta Newlon, 79, of Grafton passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Grafton City Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born August 24, 1940 in Grafton, the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Margaret Dougherty Jenkins, Sr.
Joan graduated from St. Augustine Catholic High School, Class of 1956 and worked at Grafton City Hospital for several years in housekeeping. She enjoyed being with her loving family and many friends at the Senior Center, and was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church.
She is survived by four children, Sally Brand and fiancé Greg Bright, Elkridge, MD, Shonna McCloy and husband Ralph, Grafton, Vicki Grimes and husband Carl, Centerville, TN, one son, Thomas Newlon, Grafton; seven grandchildren, David, Katie, Carly, Ralphie, Amanda, Julia, Audra; five great grandchildren, Elvie, Gunnar, Carter, Julianna, and Alexander; one sister, Betty Kay Phillips, Grafton; one brother, Thomas Jenkins, Jr. Grafton, three special friends, Julie, Leisa and Sally, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Kight; two grandchildren, Gregory Michael Brand, Jr and Lindsay Marie Brand.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 3-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Augustine Catholic Church on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 11:00AM with Father Jinto George as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
