Janice Marie Shaffer, 63, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Clarksburg, WV, on November 16, 1961, the daughter of the late Donald Ralph and Eva Bernadine Jacobs DeWitt.
Janice is survived by her devoted husband, Burl Daris Shaffer II, whom she married on August 21, 1981. The two shared a beautiful bond built on love, laughter, and unwavering companionship.
A proud graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1979, Janice found her greatest joy in being a homemaker, dedicating her heart and time to caring for her family and friends. She loved the simple, meaningful moments—riding motorcycles with her husband, relaxing at the beach, and enjoying the peace of the outdoors. One of her greatest pleasures was cheering on her beloved grandson at his baseball games, beaming with pride as she watched him play. Above all, Janice cherished every moment spent with her family, especially with her husband, her true soulmate and the love of her life.
Janice is survived by her three loving sons, Michael Shaffer, Andrew Shaffer, and Matthew Shaffer; her treasured grandson, Jace Shaffer; her brothers, Donald Ralph DeWitt (Sharon), Stanley DeWitt, and Robert “Jackie” DeWitt (Carol); her dear friends, Wanda Schmuck and Sandy Pinnell; sister-in-law Deborah Stump; and brother-in-law William Shaffer; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Autism Foundation, 2701 Little Elm Parkway, Ste 100-513, Little Elm, TX 75068.
Family and friends will be received Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton from 2:00PM until the Celebration of Her Life service at 4:00PM with Pastor Gregory Dodd officiating.
