James "Jimmy" P. Jacobs

James P. (Jimmy) Jacobs, 88, passed away on August 19, 2025, at Grafton City Hospital. He was born in Grafton, West Virginia on February 24, 1937, to the late James and Ada Robinson Jacobs.

He graduated from Grafton High School with the class of 1955. He played on the football team and was part of the 1952 Championship Team. He enjoyed his team and fellow players and talked about their games like they were yesterday. After graduation, he worked briefly for the B&O Railroad on a track gang before enlisting in the U.S. Army where he served 29 months in Korea during the war. He worked for several years as a barber at John’s Barber Shop in Arbutus, Maryland. He later started his own construction business performing remodeling work and building beautiful homes throughout West Virginia and Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Ann Kelly; son, James P. Jacobs, Jr.; sister, Shirley Setler; brother, Richard (Dickie) Jacobs. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Eakle (Steve); three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his nieces; many cousins; his long-time companion, Carol Bolyard; and countless well-loved friends.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He hunted in many western states and on the family farm in Preston County. He proudly displayed his many trophy deer, elk, antelope, mountain lion, turkey, geese, and fish.

He attended the Blueville Church of Christ. There will be no viewing or service. His remains will be cremated and interred at his final resting place, Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, Maryland, alongside his wife and son.
