James "Jim" W. Patton

James “Jim” W. Patton, 71 of Grafton, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Mon General Hospital with family by his side. He was born May 22, 1949 in Grafton, a son of the late Walter Patton and Delores Losh Messenger.  He is survived by his step-father, John Messenger and his wife of eleven years, Betty Shumaker Patton.

Jim was a 1969 graduate of Grafton High School. He worked many years at the Grafton Housing Authority as a maintenance technician. Jim enjoyed NASCAR and his driver was Dale Earnhardt, working on big trucks, fishing, hunting, playing cards and talking. He loved spending time with his family and making memories with each of them.

Jim is survived by eight children, Heather Patton(Sheila Adams) Jason Patton(Amy), Jimmy Patton, Brandon Patton (Kattie), Jay Setler, Ruth Walter, Stacey Robinson (Joe), Crystal Shorter (Sean)  eighteen grandchildren, Aden, Dillon, Leah, Hailey, Savanah, Sean, Isaac, Makayla, Breanna, Tiana, Jayme, Austin, Jacob, Gavin, Brooklyn, Jace, Hunter, Matthew, one great grandchild, Paisley, one sister, Pamela Kisner (Arlie), three  brothers, Richard Keith Messenger (Judy), Brian Patton (Jody), David Patton; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Shane Shorter.
