It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Lee Mayfield (1952 – 2025) who passed away unexpectedly while enjoying a last breakfast with his brother, Terry.
Jim had a long, rewarding career driving for FedEx. He was an excellent mechanic with a passion for rebuilding classic cars, which he would enter successfully into car shows. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time outdoors working on his property. He was happiest in his garage or sitting beside his love, Donna, on the porch watching the beautiful horses in the field nearby.
Jim (Meat) was a kind and caring husband to Donna (Haines), his devoted wife of 54 years, and a protective and dedicated father to his two loving daughters, Jennifer Lee Mayfield Bush and Jamie Dawn (Douglas) Kyle. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Dakota Bush (Lindsey and Marshall), Alexandria Bush, Chasen Bush (Katelyn), and his precious gift, Great Granddaughter Adeline (Addie) Lee Bush.
He is also survived by his siblings Terry Mayfield (Kay), Dianna Cesa (Larry Knight), and Sandra Dawson; a special sister-in-law, Judy Martin (Michael). Jim more affectionately known as Mean Meat had several nieces and nephews who loved and adored him. Jim is also survived by his long-time, loyal best friend Larry Gerkin, and his sidekick, Kai. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy (Bill and Dot); four brothers -in-law, Mark Haines, Fred Haines, Buddy Haines and Dwayne Dawson.
Jim had a hearty, infectious laugh, and such an unwavering kindness that he never turned anyone down, he was a loyal friend, and “dad” to many. His love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
The family would like to give special thanks to the amazing staff at Grafton City Hospital. This includes but is not limited to, Dr Thomas Stevens, Dr. Duvert, Chris Smith, Peggy Behan, Brook Davis, Becky Phillips, Era Ford, Cheryl Knotts, Cheyenne Lott, Michael McPherson, and anyone who we may have forgotten that cared for Jim.
