James Harry “Spike” Gray, 72 of Thornton passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born February 6, 1948 in Grafton. He was the son of the late Harry and Thelma Kelso Gray. He is survived by his wife of forty three years, Flora Sapp Gray they were married May 19, 2001.
He enjoyed being with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Spike was a self-employed carpenter, loved to ride his lawn mower with his grandchildren on his lap, working on cars, loved talking with his family and a host of friends.
Spike is survived by eight children, Samantha Jo Sapp and fiancé Seth Smallwood, Thornton, Travis James Sapp and wife Jessaca, Fort Worth, TX., Stephen Gray and wife Rebecca, SC., Jake Gray, Teresa Ann Ward and husband John, Brian Scott Gray and wife Corlene, Donald Lee Gray and wife Michelle, Christy Dawn Cox and husband Max all of Grafton, grandchildren, Little Steve, Corey, Cassie, Derek Todd, Kelsey Nicole, Zach, Alexis, Collin, Allie, Serenity, Max Christian, Parker, Remington, Leevi, and Lakyn, great grandchildren, Xavier, Brody, two sisters, Lenora Jean Tacy, Linda Markley both of Grafton, two brothers, Russell “Dane” Gray and wife Velma, Michael Gray and companion Gloria all of Grafton, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Gray, and Richard Alvin Gray, one sister, Deborah Gray.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Saturday, March 21, 2020 from 3-7PM. Private Funeral Services will be held with Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating.
