Helen Ruth Shingleton

Helen Ruth Shingleton, 85 of Bridgeport, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. She was born December 9, 1937 in Grafton, daughter of the late Ernest Marie and Mae Rebecca Stevens Reed.

Helen was homemaker and enjoyed embroidering, crocheting and doing crafts. She really liked to bake twice a week and take to Bingo. She would sit on her porch and watch birds as one of her favorite things to do. Helen loved her family and enjoyed the time she spent making special memories with each of them. 

Helen is survived by seven children, James Shingleton (Becky), Joyce Reyes (Everett), Kevin Shingleton, Keith Shingleton, (Sandy),Robert Shingleton, Dianna Shingleton, and Dorothy White, fifteen, grandchildren, Patrick, April (John), Michelle (Jeff), Rebecca (Zach), Keith Jr. (Jerica), Brandon (Megan), Brooke (Andy), Emilee (Tyler), Tara (George), Alyssa (Devin), Codey, Angela (Carlos), Stacey, and Dale Jr.; twenty-one great grandchildren, Gavin, Kasen, Hendrick, Lukka, Payton, Kian, Treston, Taylor, Dakota, Nikolas, Carli, Drake, Jacob, Isabella, Nova, Mya, Carlos, Devin, Jerrica, Micah, and Zoey; two great grandchildren, Kiah and Kolter; one sister, Evelyn Sellers and Don; several nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her children, Jean Purdue, Chuck Bowser and Cheryl Bair; siblings, Doyle Reed, Donald Reed, Rosalyn Reed, Garnett Reed, Theodore Stevens, Robert Stevens, Ernest Reed, Francis Reed, Charles Reed, Stephen Reed, William Reed, and Douglas Reed; one granddaughter, Jessica; three great grandchildren, James, Levi, and Caleb.
