Helen Ruth (Haller) Mitchell

Helen Ruth Mitchell, (Grandma Duke) 88, of Philippi and formerly of Webster passed away at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown on Sunday, October 9, 2022. She was born July 26, 1934 in Grafton, daughter of the late John Wesley and Nancy Ellen Streets Haller. She is survived by her husband Paul J. Mitchell, they were married September 24, 1960 spending more than sixty- two years together.

Helen was a Baptist by faith, attended the Webster Baptist Church and later watched worship services on tv. She enjoyed working in the garden, cooking, baking biscuits and canning. Helen was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved talking on the phone, spending time with her family making special memories especially with Asher, who was the highlight of her life.

Helen is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Darlene Howdyshell, one granddaughter, Beth Ann Howdyshell, (Hank Smith) and two great grandsons, Ashton Smith and Asher Lee Lambert and his dad Corey Lambert, and one sister, Pearl Hunt and husband Ronnie, Webster.

In addition to her parents Helen was preceded in death by four sisters, Edith Hess, Virginia Robinson, Hattie Haddix and Mary Williams, four brothers, William Haller, Truman Ray Haller, Robert Haller, and George Haller, and one grandson, Bounce Hess.

Family and friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, WV, on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM and Friday, October 14, 2022 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM the hour of the funeral with Minister Robert Lantz officiating.
