George Roy Williams

George Roy Williams, 85, of Grafton, passed away at his home, on Tuesday, 23, 2026. He was born November 15, 1940 in Independence, West Virginia., son of the late Dewey and Wonite Severe Williams. George’s wife, Flora Elizabeth Kerns Williams, preceded him in death on July 30, 2017.

George was a proud graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1959. He was a man of vision, determination, and an unwavering work ethic. Throughout his life, he worked in the coal mines and the oil and gas industry, earning the respect and admiration of those around him. Well known throughout the community, George was valued not only for his hard work but also for his genuine kindness and character.

A devoted farmer, George found great joy in working the land and caring for his flowers. His dedication and love transformed his home into a beautiful landscape that his family cherished. The outdoors was where he felt most at peace—whether he was hard at work or simply taking a moment to admire the fruits of his labor.

George had a gift for connecting with people. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. His warm smile, friendly nature, and love for storytelling left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be remembered as a hardworking man, a loving family member, and a friend to all whose lives he touched.

George is survived by three children, Daniel R. Williams (Deanna), Gerald L. Williams, and Stephen R. Williams (Pauline); five grandchildren, Todd, Danielle, Brittney, Brealyn, and Stephanie.

Family and friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 3PM until 4PM the hour of the funeral with Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating. Private interment will follow at the Simpson Cemetery.
