George Henry “Scrappy” Board, 82, of Grafton passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on August 28, 1942 in Augusta GA, son of the late Henry Earl and Helen Smith Board. Scrappy was preceded in death by his wife Lois E. Felton Board December 14, 2013.
Scrappy was a graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1960. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked as an engineer for Chrysler Corporation and retired from Martin Marietta Corporation. He was a proud owner with his wife of G and L Antiques in Grafton. He liked to be in the woods hunting and along a river bank fishing. He loved being with people and finding and selling antiques and always making a deal. Scrappy enjoyed being with people and loved being with his family and those special occasions with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Scrappy is survived by two sons, Nelson J. Board (Malinda), and Richard K. Board (Virginia), six grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Daylan, J T, Amanda and Christina; two great grandchildren, Maverick and Audrey, one sister, Jerry Ann Malone (DeWayne).
In addition to his parents and his wife Scrappy is preceded in death by one son, Randy S. Board and one brother, Robert Earl Board.
Family and friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Thursday September 5, 2024 from 9:00 AM until 10:00Am the hour of the funeral. with Pastor Ken Heiney officiating Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard and US Air Force Honor Guard.
