Frederick "Fred" Martin Haines

Frederick Martin Haines, 64, of Grafton passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Grafton City Hospital. He was born in Pittsburg, PA on August 15, 1957, son of late Lewis Haines and Mary Lou Batykefer Morrell. Fred is preceded in death by his wife Veronica Haines.

Fred graduated from Grafton High School. He served in the U S Air Force, and worked at the Clarksburg Water Board. He was an avid Mountaineer fan all the way and enjoyed watching the Steelers. He was known to relax and watch any sports.  He loved collecting stamps. He adored his cats, Gizmo and Betsy.

Fred is survived by two special nieces, Jennifer Mayfield-Bush, and Jamie Kyle (Douglas) both of Grafton, two daughters, Misty Haines-Garcia (Leopoldo) GA, and Crystal Haines (Anthony) SC., three  grandchildren, Savannah, Hannah and Trenton, two sisters, Donna Mayfield (James) Grafton, Judith Martin (Michael) Clarksburg,  and one brother, Lewis “Buddy” Haines, He also loved his wife’s family in California, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and a very special caregiver, Melanie Swisher, Grafton.

In addition to his parents and wife Fred was preceded in death by one son, Frederick Martin Haines II, and brother, Mark Haines.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, March 11, 2022 at the West Virginia National Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered with the Taylor County Honor Guard and the United States Air Force.
