Esther Ruth Brown of Walled Lake, MI formerly of Taylor, MI, was born September 13, 1931 in Providence, Rhode Island to George H. and Alice (nee: Parfaii) Vowles, Sr. She died December 1, 2022 at the age of 91. Mrs. Brown is the beloved wife of the late David L. Brown. She is the loving sister of Marilyn (the late Harry "Skip") Speck, Rosemarie (Paul) Jalette, Donald (the late Cheryl) Vowles, Kenneth (Sandra) Vowles, Virginia (the late Fred) Watkins, Linda (Gerald) Race, William (Dianna) Vowles and Muriel (Bradley) Pearson. She is preceded in death by her siblings George H. (the late Vilda Mathurin) Vowles, Jr., Evelyn (the late William) Chapman, Robert (Cathy and the late Evelyn) Vowles and James (Patricia) Vowles. She is also survived by her stepson Kenneth (Lorainne) Brown and many loving nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. Esther retired as an inspector at the Ford Motor Company. She was a lifelong Christian and faithful servant of God. She was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Taylor. She taught Sunday School for many years and was a mentor and role model to many at church and mostly to her family. She was loved dearly by all who knew her. She always commanded a quiet respect, but also was always up for a good time and could surprise you with some silly comment or impish type behavior. She was first and foremost a loyal believer in Christ and loved to share His Word, and has always supported the family for our whole lives. We are forever grateful and blessed to be family. We love you, Esther, you have left a huge hole and will be missed. Bartlett Funeral Home is handling the local arrangements for burial of Mrs Brown next to her husband at the WV National Cemetery.
