Elaine Hood Miller, 84 of Diamondhead, MS, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026. She was born on April 27, 1942, in Grafton, WV. She is survived by her three children, Laura Costolo Sheets (Randy) of Metamora, IL, Rebecca Costolo Collura (Sam) of Melbourne, FL and Patrick McCue of Diamondhead, MS; granddaughters Kristy Woods, Gabriella Collura and Ally McCue. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Hood, mother, Janice Beagle Hood Tackett and her stepfather Abe Tackett.
Elaine graduated from Grafton High School in 1960, where she served as head cheerleader. She attended WVU before moving to Illinois, where she lived for more than 10 years. She later returned to Grafton and remained there until 2016. Elaine co-owned the Grafton Country Club with her mother, Janice, while her stepfather, Abe Tackett, managed its day-to-day operations for more than 25 years. She took great pride that her family learned to play and love golf there as well as many others from the local community.
Elaine was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She also volunteered for years with the Girl Scouts and for local and national elections. She was an avid antique collector and enjoyed reading as well.
Elaine’s other passion was her cats- Beau, Fritz, and Mr. Bojangles, which is why she wishes family and friends to please donate to your favorite animal charity in lieu of flowers.
Family and friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton on Monday June 15, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM.
