Edward Moats Obituary

Edward Junior Moats, 79, of Grafton, returned to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, with his loving family by his side. He was born on October 7, 1941 in Grafton, son of the late Edward Marshall and Freda Gilmore Moats. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Lorraine Boyce Moats, they fell in love when they were twelve years old, she was the girl of his dreams. They were married November 19, 1970, spending fifty plus years together.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Ed retired from Sterling Faucet, Tygart Lake, and Stroehmann Bakery. His devotion to his family and a firm belief in God supported him in his struggles and ultimately gave him peace along with his family. He was blessed with a large and loving family. He helped raise three children with patience, discipline and humility, he taught them to be patient, loving, and kind, and encouraged them to explore the Gospel. Ed will be dearly missed by his loved ones, who will celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

In addition to his wife Ed is survived by three children, Ginger Miller (Ed), Donna Stoehr (Joe), Edward Moats (Della), five grandchildren; Kim and Jamie Soccorsi, Misty Fletcher (Travis), Marshall and Nolan Moats, five great grandchildren; Alyssa, Devan, and Grace Fletcher, Austin  Costello and Ethan Soccorsi, one great great grandson; Mavin Nichols.

In addition to his parents Ed is preceded in death one daughter Pasty Austin, and one great grandson Evan Costello.

Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM the hour of the funeral with Pastor Paula Jeffries officiating, the family has asked that proper distancing and mask. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the United States Army Honor Guard.
