Dr. Brannon E. Riffle passed away December 12, 2022, in Greensboro, NC.
He was born October 24, 1927, in Rosemont, WV to the late Brannon and Thelma Nestor Riffle.
He was a WWII Navy veteran and served in Japan. He earned his degree from the Illinois College of Optometry and worked as an independent Optometrist in Philippi & Morgantown for over 40 years. He enjoyed golfing (actually had two witnessed holes in one) and attending WVU basketball games (was a season ticket holder for both men’s & women’s teams).
He is survived by his wife, Loma Harvey Riffle (Morgantown); two children, son Eric & daughter-in-law Annette (Greensboro) and daughter Anne (Morgantown); three granddaughters, Angie (Atlanta), Courtney (Arlington) and Claire (Greensboro); and three sisters, Brenda & Jeri (Asheboro) and Jane (Richmond).
Family and friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, WV on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 11:30AM until 12:00PM the hour of the funeral with Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating.Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery with full military honors given by the Taylor County Color Guard and the U. S. Navy. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions to be made to the Child Life Program at WVU Medicine Children's Hospital.
