Dorsey Ray Williams, 80, of Grafton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 29, 2020, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born May 22, 1940, in Grafton, the son of the late Howard Ray Williams and Nora Janetta Pitzer Williams.
Dorsey is survived by his wife of fifty nine years, Anne Marie Lieurey Williams of Grafton. They were married on March 15, 1961, in Paris, France.
He enjoyed working on his sports cars, attending car shows, farming, and being with his family. Dorsey served his country for twenty years in the Army. He served in Korea and Vietnam. While he was in the military service he was awarded the Bronze Star, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, and two Army Commendation Medals. He completed his service as a Master Sergeant. After retiring from the military, Dorsey worked for Union Carbide for eight years. He also worked for the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department, WV Division of Corrections. He went on to finish his career as a Police Officer at the VA Hospital in Clarksburg, WV.
Dorsey is survived by four children, Carolyn Sinclair and husband, Gregory, Beckley, Tony Williams and wife, Kelley, Myersville, M.D., Kenneth Williams and wife, Lisa, Grafton, Emmanuel Williams and wife, Tarry, Grafton, twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two sisters, Alice Lucas, of Grafton, Della Jean Lambert, of Grafton, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Forrest Williams, Leonard Williams, Dorman Williams, and three sisters, Gertrude Mills, Sylvia Able, and Dorothy Knotts.
Family and friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave Grafton on Monday, June 1, 2020 from 3:00PM to 8:00PM with proper distancing and face mask required. A private funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 11:00AM with Pastor Tom Horne officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery.
