Dorothy “Dolly” Lucille Smith, 84 of Grafton passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Grafton, on March 20, 1939, daughter of the late Robert McKinnley and Aretha Pearl Cox Slaton. Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, James Clarence Smith, September 19, 1987.
Dolly was a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, working in the garden and with her flowers. She liked going to McDonalds to sit and talk to her friends. Dolly would always strike up conversation where ever she went, always making new friends. She loved the time she spent with family and friends.
Dolly is survived by three children, Pamela Sue “Susie” Ware (Tom) Grafton, Jay Michael Smith, Charlotte, NC, and Mirchana Everhart (Ronnie) Morgantown, four grandchildren, Ryan Thomas Ware and Kelley, Elkview, James Howard Ware, Parkersburg, Ronald James Everhart, Morgantown, Gianna Jade Everhart, Red Bank, NJ, three great grandchildren, Matthew Ware, Emma Ware, Adalynn Ware, one sister, Patricia Ann Tacy, OH, two sisters-in-law, Mary Slaton,Grafton, Marie Slaton, Ohio, one brother, James Slaton, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Dolly is preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Francis Findley, Katherine Anglish, Paul Slaton, Helen McDaniel, Harry Slaton, Bobby Slaton, Donny Slaton, Shirley Perkins, and Kenneth Slaton.
