Dorothy Lea (Bolton) Mayfield

Dorothy Lea Bolton Mayfield passed away in her sleep on December 12, surrounded by her loving children. She was born December 22, 1929 in Philippi to Granville and Bessie Bolton. She was preceded in death by husband – the love of her life - of 72 years, William (Bill) Mayfield, and her twelve brothers and sisters; Hartzel, Gaye, Harold, Evelyn, Bernice, Boyd, Maysel, Slim, Denzel, Wanda, and Patty.
“Dot” or “Dottie” was known for her always smiling face and beautiful white hair, and her genuine interest in and concern for others. The day she graduated from Philippi High School at seventeen, she took a bus to the big city of Grafton to work at the shirt factory.  She was known to many for her years at Garden Fresh Market.
She will be missed by many, especially her children: (Sandra (Dwayne) Dawson, Dianna Cesa, James (Donna) Mayfield, and Terry (Kay) Mayfield; her grandchildren, Deanna, Denine, and Deveny Dawson, Renee Keener, Dominic Raschella, Jennifer Mayfield-Bush, Jamie Kyle, Lorie Dye, Ryan Mayfield, and Bethany Mayfield Powell, and eighteen great grandchildren also her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene Shingleton, Rick Shingleton (Vicky), and Connie Shingleton.. She was also a devoted aunt to many of her nieces and nephews.
For the past several years she has been at the Taylor Health Care Center, where she received loving care, and she was loved by many there. She was a member of the Fetterman United Methodist Church.  She will be missed by many.

Family and friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, Grafton on Tuesday December 14, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and December 15, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM the hour of the funeral with Pastor David Bess officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery.
