Dorothy Jean Smouse Humphreys, 76 of Belington where she made her home with her granddaughter, Trina Weaver and her children, passed away at UHC, Thursday, April 27, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born in Philippi, June 14, 1946, daughter of the late Elmer Watson and Betty Parson Smouse.
Dorothy worked many years caring for people in their homes while helping with their everyday needs. She was a caring and kind person with a big heart. Dorothy enjoyed going to church, talking and spending time with her family and friends and going places. She thought of her family as her greatest joys and blessing. Dorothy will be greatly missed by them and all who knew her. She also enjoyed going to her daughter’s farm and putting flowers on the graves of her loved ones.
Dorothy is survived by three children, JoAnn Humphreys and Bob, Ralph Humphries, Kenny Humphries; three sisters, Judy Califf, Darlene Barker, and Cathy Newman; one brother, David Parson; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; special nephew, Carl Curry (Nichole), and their daughters, Madison and Aleah; several additional nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by one son, Robert Humphries; two sisters, Sue Menz and Rosie Funk; two brothers, Donnie Parson and Carl Junior Smouse; and two great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Avenue, Grafton WV on Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 1:00PM-5:00PM and Monday, May 1, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM the hour of the funeral with Rev Ezik Norris officiating.
