Donald Lee Watkins

Donald Lee (Donnie) Watkins, 78 of Grafton passed away Friday, July 26, 2024 at his home with his loving family beside him. He was born November 1, 1945 in Grafton. He was the son of Norman Steven and Velva DeMoss Watkins, Donnie is survived by his wife Paula Davidson Watkins. They were married June 28, 1985, spending over thirty-nine years together.

Donnie started out his career as a heavy equipment operator and then became a truck driver.  Donnie worked lots of years and retired as a truck driver from his own company, Watkins Trucking Company. He was like a legend in his own time in the trucking business. He could out talk the best of them and was always ready to take on the next run. His favorite hobby was watching Nascar, while cheering on his favorite drivers, Joey Logan and Kyle Larson. He liked horses and enjoyed a good western while relaxing. Donnie loved his family unconditionally and enjoyed all the get togethers’ and time spent with each of them.

 Donnie is survived by one daughter, Cinda Rodgers and son in-law Dale; one granddaughter, Latasha Rodgers; one sister, Shirley Newlon (AR); special nieces, Rachel, Buffy, Heather, Abby, Tori, Erica, Megan, Natalie, and Haley.

In addition to his parents, Donnie is preceded in death by one grandson, Steven Rodgers, one brother, Howard Watkins.

Family and friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave. on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, and on July 30, 2024 from 9:00AM until the funeral hour at 2:00PM. with Pastor Jason Bogg officiating.
