Delores Delaney Spence, of Hyattsville, MD, formerly of Grafton passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 at her residence with family by her side. She was born November 11, 1932, daughter of the late Ralph H. “Ike” and Margaret E. Drennan Lander.
Delores was a graduate of Grafton High School, Class of 1950. She started working for the C&P Telephone Company in Grafton then moved to Maryland where she continued working for Bell Atlantic, AT&T, and Verizon with over thirty three years of service. Her favorite pastimes were crocheting, making jewelry, and sewing.
She is survived by one daughter, Mae Ellen Spence, Grafton; four sons, Okey Delaney lll and wife Joice, Grafton, Michael Ray Delaney, and wife Stephanie, Hyattsville, MD, Timothy Spence, Thornton, and Thomas Spence, New Cumberland, WV; six grandchildren, Michael Delaney Jr. Okey Delaney IV, and wife Susan, Megan Sweeney, Chelsea Newell, Hillarie Sweeney, Kaelie Sweeney; four great grandchildren, Kristian Delaney, Katelyn Delaney, Everett Newell, Calvin Newell; two sisters, Rose Marie Waters, Grafton, and Evelyn Marshall, Dallas, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lesa Kay Smith; one granddaughter, Heather Smith, one sister, Wilma Jean Shaw.
Friends will be received at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave. Grafton on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 11:00AM, until the time of funeral service at 1:00PM. with Rev. Don Harward officiating.
