David "Dave" Michael Yacenech, 67 of Grafton, went to see Jesus on Sunday, September 29, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1957.
He is survived by his fiancée, Brenda Cox; his son and daughter in law, John David "JD" and Erica Yacenech of Meadowbrook; granddaughters Chloe and Emma; along with sister in law Carol; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eva "Tiny" and Steve Yacenech; two brothers, Steve Yacenech and Larry "Shaggs" Shaffer.
He graduated from Grafton High School in 1975. Dave owned and operated Dave's Quality Auto, Inc., in Pruntytown. He considered himself semi-retired working a few days a week at the shop. Before opening his business in 1986, he previously worked at Nestor's Mobil through high school and he learned his auto body trade from his friend and mentor, Steve Edwards in the shop up behind the Mobil station. He then went to work for Pitrolo Pontiac, Schweitzer's Auto Body, and then Gaston's Body Shop before finally opening his own body shop, Dave's Quality Auto, Inc. on Harmony Grove Road in 1986.In 2012, he was saved and it truly changed him. He attended South Ridge Church in Bridgeport and Fairmont.
He was an avid car guy, had a need for speed and to get it sounding and looking good, enjoyed going to car shows too. He enjoyed motorcycle trips along our WV hills. Dave loved the game of golf and truly enjoyed being out on the greens. He really enjoyed watching his granddaughters in their activities, plays, parades, and dance recitals. He also enjoyed the fun and silly times with them too, many hours making the shop into an obstacle course were always treasured by him. He also enjoyed evening walks with Brenda. He enjoyed running and had a yearly birthday tradition of completing the same course within a certain amount of time. He always liked being around friends and family, he never knew a stranger.
We would like to thank the staff at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital for their care over the past week.
