David Cox, 78 of Grafton died peacefully at home on August 3, 2023. He was born September 13, 1944 in Grafton, WV, the son of the late Ira Godfrey Cox and Cora Edith Bennett Cox. Dave graduated from Grafton High School, Class of 1962. After graduation he served in the United States Marine Corp with an honorable discharge in October 1966. He married his high school sweetheart, Karen Sue Trickett Cox in 1963, October 22, they would have celebrated 60 years together. He is survived by three children, Dale Cox wife Jan, Dean Cox wife Carrie and Davina Cox Thorn husband Allen. He has 6 grandchildren, Jade Cox and companion Scott Murphy, Desiree Cox Grimes and husband Bryson, Zane Cox, Savannah Thorn and fiancé' Kyle Rosenberger, Jena Cox and companion Scotty Bentley. He has two great grandchildren, Brynley and Aubrie Murphy. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Litzinger and Martha Bragg; one brother, Robert Cox and wife Vickie; two sisters-in-law, Jean Cox and Kathy Cox. David enjoyed bowling, mountaineer football and basketball, Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates baseball. He drove truck for many years driving over 3 million miles with no accidents. he always had jokes to make you laugh and tales to make you wonder. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and VFW. He also attended church at Jewel City Church in Shinnston, WV. He is preceded in death by six brothers, Clyde, Luther, Neil, Glen, Darl wife Kathy, James and one sister Mabel husband Bud. Before his passing he started dreaming and talking about how he was going to meet his grandson Travis Thorn in heaven who passed away on this same day 32 years ago.
