Darrell Lee Shuttlesworth, Sr., 79, of Morgantown, formerly of Grafton, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on April 7, 1946, in Grafton, the son of the late Jackson Shuttlesworth and Olive Virginia Ford Shuttlesworth Camden.
On January 27, 1966, Darrell married the love of his life, Lorna Louise Carnes Shuttlesworth. Together they shared more than fifty-nine years of devotion, building a life filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories.
Darrell worked as a laborer at the Sterling Faucet Factory in Morgantown for over twenty-seven years, where he was admired for his strong work ethic. A true craftsman at heart, he found joy in building—whether it was constructing buildings, creating crafts, or making thoughtful treasures for his family and friends. His hands were never idle, always working with purpose and care.
In his free time, Darrell enjoyed simple pleasures that brought him great happiness. He loved spending summer evenings at car shows, admiring the beauty of classic cars, and tending to his gardens, where he found peace and fulfillment. Above all, Darrell cherished the moments spent with his family and friends. Sharing stories, laughter, and the comfort of each other’s company were the times he held closest to his heart.
Darrell is survived by his devoted wife, Lorna; his son, Darrell Lee Shuttlesworth II; and three sisters-in-law, Donnetta Cortney (Blair), Mary Hardman, and Kim Carnes.
In addition to his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his step father, Newton Camden; two brothers, Larry Shuttlesworth and Terry Shuttlesworth; and two sisters, Judy Poling and Glinda Mulick.
In keeping with Darrell’s wishes, he will be cremated, and there will be no formal services.
