Danny Franklin Freeze

Danny Franklin Freeze, 71, of Grafton, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, at United Hospital Center, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Danny was born on January 22, 1954, in Grafton, a beloved son of the late James Edward Freeze and Mary Viola Myers Freeze.

On May of 1990, Danny married the love of his life, Sandy Boyd Freeze. Their marriage was one built on devotion, partnership, and enduring love.

Danny dedicated thirty-nine years of faithful service to the West Virginia Department of Highways. Known affectionately as “Danny Boy,” he was a man who could do any job and never hesitated to help wherever he was needed. He took great pride in his work and was admired for his strong work ethic, determination, and willingness to tackle even the toughest challenges.

An avid hunter, Danny found peace and happiness in the woods, spending as much time outdoors as he could. He also had a deep love for working on vehicles, whether fixing his own or helping someone else. Danny never gave up on a problem—he worked tirelessly until it was fixed or until he knew exactly what it would take to make it right. Above all, he loved people. Family gatherings brought him great joy, and he had the rare gift of being able to talk to anyone, anywhere, instantly making friends wherever he went.

Danny leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Freeze; his eight children, Angie Braham, Tabitha Freeze, Holly Freeze, Daniel Boyd, Teresa Boyd, Julie Williams (Casey Bartlett), William Ward, and Amber Klema (Dan); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; two very special grandchildren, Charlie and Calli; and his three sisters, Iris Shahan (Jeffery), Dorthy “Dottie” Freeze Vincent (Mark), and Branda Nelder (Nelson).

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by one nephew, Leroy Edward Freeze.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Avenue, Grafton, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and again on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, the hour of the funeral service, with Pastor Amy Morrow officiating. Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
