Curtis Eugene Shroyer

Curtis Eugene Shroyer, born February 24, 1936, in Grafton, West Virginia, lived life to the fullest for more than 90 years before his sudden passing on June 14, 2026. A man of strong faith, Curtis trusted in the Lord's guidance throughout his life and found comfort in God's direction, grace, and provision through every season.

Curtis was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, hardworking provider, and loyal friend. Above all else, he cherished his family and spent his life ensuring they were loved, protected, and cared for.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Suzanne Madeline Simons Shroyer; his four children, Rocky Shroyer (Victoria), Alice Joan Shroyer-Grubb (James “Bo”), Gene Smith Shroyer (Mary), and Curtis Ed Shroyer (Jennifer); and his eleven cherished grandchildren: Rocky Todd Shroyer (Erin), Rodney Shroyer, Reba Cutright, Reno Cutright, Autumn Shroyer, Corbin Shroyer, Charlie Shroyer, Amelia Shroyer, Zoie Shroyer, Curtis Shroyer Jr., and Mallory Shroyer. He also leaves behind several great-grandchildren who brought him great joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Flossie Faye Lundy Shroyer and Smith Hart Shroyer, and by his brothers, James Shroyer, Paul Shroyer, and Junior Shroyer.

Curtis was a man who found happiness in the simple blessings of life. Gardening, tree grafting, taxidermy, hunting, beekeeping, and feeding the local wildlife and feathered friends were among his greatest passions. Whether tending his garden, watching birds gather around his feeders, or spending time outdoors watching deer and bear, he found peace and purpose in nature. He often viewed these gifts of creation as reminders of God's handiwork and blessings.

A skilled pipefitter, welder, and construction worker by trade, Curtis took pride in honest hard work and the life he built for his family. His dedication, strength, and work ethic were admired by all who knew him.

Curtis also proudly served his country in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force. During his military service, he had the distinct honor of serving on the detail for the 34th President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower. His commitment to service and country remained a source of pride throughout his life.

Those who knew Curtis will remember his generous heart, his love of family, his respect for nature, and his unwavering willingness to help others. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the countless lives he touched. His faith in the Lord sustained him throughout his journey, and his family finds comfort in knowing he has been welcomed into God's eternal kingdom.

Family and friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Avenue, Grafton, West Virginia, on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., the hour of the funeral service, with Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the West Virginia National Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the United States Army Honor Guard from Camp Dawson.

Though his family grieves his loss, they take comfort in knowing that his love, wisdom, and spirit will remain with them always. They also find peace in the assurance that he now rests safely in the hands of his Lord and Savior. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be treasured forever.
